Lisa Miller is Director of Litigation Services with Acuitas, Inc., a business valuation and litigation services firm and has been with the firm since 1996. Ms. Miller has over fifteen years of experience working in litigation services where she provides business and financial advice to attorneys and their clients throughout the litigation process, including serving as an expert witness. She has been involved in many engagements involving antitrust matters, breach of contract issues, franchise agreements, fraud investigations, mergers and acquisition disputes, employment discrimination, and white collar crime. She also has significant experience in intellectual property matters, which include patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secrets issues. Certain industries she has been involved with include telecommunications, automobile, restaurant, oil and gas, physician practices, and the banking industries. Ms. Miller has been retained as the expert witness by plaintiffs and defendants in breach of contract, intellectual property, and employment discrimination matters and has testified in deposition.
Prior to joining Acuitas in 1996, she spent two and one-half years with a national litigation services firm that specialized in litigation services for insurance related matters. At that position, she assisted both insurance companies and attorneys in the valuation of insurance claims. Her role was to provide her client with an analysis of the damages the insured sustained due to the occurrence of a loss. A large majority of the work related to financial losses due to business interruption, damage or theft of inventory and contents, and fidelity claims. She was also involved in fraud investigations and financially motivated arson investigations.
Ms. Miller has a Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting and economics/finance from Augusta State University. She also holds a Masters in Business Administration degree from Georgia State University. She is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Georgia Society of CPAs. Ms. Miller is accredited in Business Valuations and has been designated as Certified in Financial Forensics by the American Institute of CPAs.
